Blaze is Fr. Matt’s dog and our beloved parish mascot.

He is a 100% pure-bred Red Labrador Retriever, born on June 28, 2025.

Blaze loves walks (although he’s a little stop-and-go after the first 12 minutes) and is always willing to do his two favorite tricks, “sit” and “down,” so long as there is a treat ready for him!

His favorite pastime is sleeping, but sometimes he prefers napping instead.

Blaze is famous for being motivated entirely by food and is the current Guinness World Record holder for fastest time to consume 1/3 cup of puppy kibble (Category: male dogs – ages 2-4 months) at a “Blazing” and record smashing 12.53 seconds. (Record completed on September 5th, 2025 at 12:02.68 PM.)

When not walking, napping, or eating, Blaze enjoys making new friends with everyone who comes into the parish office, and always lends a helpful-paw to assist Fr. Matt during his meetings (Blaze has to help keep Fr. Matt calm at times).

One thing not many people know about Blaze is his extraordinary humility and patience, and he always quietly puts up with Fr. Matt when the mealtimes on any given day happen to be running on FMC time (which is always 5-10 minutes late). He will, however, not tolerate a lack of walks, especially in the morning!
